VetLit brings together recent literature from over 60 journals, grouped into specialties, topics and conditions. It is designed to make veterinary literature more accessible for all included specialties – at any one time it displays the last month’s worth of articles for each field.
We also interpret and distribute interesting articles to multiple mailing lists to keep you up to date without even having to search(!). Here is how the site evolved…

April 2021 – Prototype Emergency and Critical Care page developed
Originally the site was simply to help me (Simon) and my ECC team/residents stay up to date with all the important studies coming out every month – it keeps updating with articles published in each of the journals included.
September 2021 – Site “launched”

I began to circulate the site to interested parties and also began writing to a selection of ECC enthusiasts every month via a mailing list. I also got a proper logo! (Thanks to my brother, Matt and my dog, P).
The site also catered for Internal Medicine, Anaesthesia, Surgery and Veterinary Nursing – accumulating articles from important journals in to one place.

November 2022 – Internal Medicine mailing list is launched
The amazing Chris Scudder BVSc MVetMed DACVIM PhD MRCVS joins to write internal medicine literature updates to the medicine mailing list. His fascination with all things endocrine, especially of pituitary origin, tends to shine through in his updates.
Article filtration
This meant that specialties such as Ophthalmology, Diagnostic Imaging, Neurology, Dentistry, Cardiology and Dermatology could benefit from the site too. We filter out articles not relevant to those specialties, and apply to whichever journals are most useful.
With thanks to Katarina Varjonen, Serena Maini, Maria Fischer, Alix Freeman, Alex Smith, Joe Fenn and Abbe Crawford we built exhaustive filters so that even if relevant articles are only published infrequently, they are concentrated into the respective pages.
April 2023 – Literature by condition pages begin to be built.
These filter articles according to specific conditions, topics, diseases, or just concepts that we often find ourselves “googling” and need to keep up to date on. Eg. urethral obstructions, septic peritonitis, point-of-care-ultrasound, IMHA etc…

Neurology specialist and researcher Abbe Crawford BVM&S BSc MVetMed PhD DipECVN FHEA MRCVS joins to share her enthusiasm for both clinical neurology and basic science via the neurology mailing list.

June 2024 – Surgery mailing list is launched

December 2024 – Cardiology mailing list is launched
